Good Book was a much more entertaining read than my Hermenutics chapter summary assignment at TFC. As an agnostic Jew, Plotz certainly has a unique take on the Old Testament - much different than my own - but I could see his point on several topics when it came to some outlandish stories and timelines. (I belive in miracles and the Bible as much as the next Christian so don't take me the wrong way.) I like that Plotz points out that more people should read the Bible. The references to the Bible are scattered throughout great literature and truly contributes to society not only in literature but spiritually. Recently I saw an article in a newspaper about how the Bible should be read in schools; I agree. It should be read in classrooms and can be taught without an evangelistic bend - then the students can make an educated decision about the message of the Bible. As Plotz also points out, people aren't converted by knowledge of the text alone but through relationships with those who believe the Bible.
