The fact that Dr. Oz wrote the forward, should have made me run screaming the other way. This is just Atkins re-packaged with a little Deepak Chopra thrown in. The self survey questions are loaded and not helpful, and the "figure out what type of eater you are" section, does not truly work well if you are multiple types, which most people are. Basically, it boils down to avoid carbs and sweets and you will lose 10 lbs. in 30 days. DUH!
Not very good. Don't bother.
I liked the climax of this book, but on the whole, this series doesn't rise above your typical YA paranormal mould. You can kind of see the turns, where it's going, without it ever being truly shocking or devastating. Having said that, it's still rather addictive. Predictable, but you still want to know how it ends. The characters aren't exactly lovable, but they're memorable enough, some of them even likable (gentle clueless vampires FTW). Not a spoiler but I liked Ranulf and Balthaza (sp?). I'm still kind of undecided about Lucas, because I'm not truly convinced about his relationship with Bianca. But I'm interested enough to continue with the series, because the ending for this one is a bit of a cliffhanger.
