I really liked this book. It was the sequel to another, and I liked this one way better. The kids in it were 7th graders, like us, and they seemed a lot more mature than they did in the first book in this series. I think it was really good and more interesting than the first one. I can relate to it and I thought it was really true. I gave it 4 stars.
A very inspirational book, shows alot of empathy and compassion towards its readers.
I've always loved a good Cinderella story mainly because Cinderella is the quintessential princess but also because I had a boyfriend once who use to call me Cinderella, that was his nickname for me (sigh), it made me melt. So, I ate up this book. It caused many sleepless nights (as in I stayed up late and didn't get much sleep because I was reading this book sleepless). I especially loved the idea of someone being cursed with obedience. What a clever idea. I caught myself analyzing everything everyone said to Ella to see if it was a command. Hmmm, was that a command, no, was that? It was fun. I loved the book, that being said, I always have some room-for-improvement comment. I found myself wishing the love story was more romantic. The whole thing with them finding some glass slippers and some gloves with holes in them while searching the castle for a secret passage way, was just a little silly. Also, Ella fell into the trap at the end that I hate story book characters to fall into, that is the trap of: I have a problem and the problem could be solved if all involved would just sit down and talk about it, but that would ruin the story, so I'm going to come up with a silly solution on my own and not talk to anyone just to keep the story going. Ok, it's a little long winded, but I haven't thought of a shorter way to say it yet. In my mind when an author falls into this trap I feel that they are not being creative enough. They are a good author but not an excellent author. Ok, I'm done criticizing. My final comment is: I recommend everyone read this and enjoy it. It's fun.
