Great book. I think I enjoyed it more this time than when I read it as a teenager. The plot is fairly well known - so no need to hash through that in a review. The blending of the political with the narrative and the vision of a possible future is still an amazing thing to behold. Given the time that Herbert was writing (mid 1970s) and the way that the western world's perception of the middle east has changed since then - I don't find this book to be in any way dated or less (or more) plausible. I think not many books could say the same thing.
