While waiting for the latest Haruki Murakami book to be translated I decided to reread one to warm up the dreamscape engines. I love his books as he makes dealing with various degrees of consciousness accessible, or at least somewhat accessible. This book deals with a lot of love for whiskey, all different kinds of women and dreams. There are two parallel narratives which are easy to discern between each other but not always easy to understand what is going on, your levels of disbelief and imagination will be challenged here but it is all splentastic. There's a lot of, going with the flow, which can be hard to grasp. Without going too much into the plot, which would be hard to concisely describe in the first place, the main characters identity is falling apart and mythic like adventures are in order to set things right. In all of this, the characters, all have comedic timing and wacked out attributes. There's nothing like picking up one of his books and getting lost into a psychic web set in Japan.
