Poor Alice. She entered the world of early onset Alzheimers disease and before she even knew it she was sliding down a slippery slope like a bat flying straight out of HELL. This was probably one of the saddest stories I've read. The author does a wonderful job of painting a picture for the reader of what it is actually like in the mind of the Alzheimers patient....to know you are going to lose your ability to communicate and eventually lose your family and your life. To know that is coming and not be able to do a thing about it...even when you plan for it. So sad. Also makes you ask yourself some interesting questions like what you would expect your spouse to do in that situation and what you would want yourself to do.
