Fascinating story, setting & characters. However, it was not an easy read.
A definite twist on the fairy tales we know and love, Rapunzel- was the "witch" really mean or just an overprotective mother. What kind of feelings the the dwarves REALLY have about Snow White? (That's a story you'll have to read twice). Cinderella- revenge is best served cold. Overall an excellent read!
This book traces the lives of a West Virginia family from before WWII until 1970. It is beautifully written and made me cry in one place. The book is written from four perspectives but there is nothing I would call a plot -- just thoughts and feelings about life from four family members.
