Classic. Dark humor. Personal favorite. Edit: I re-read this the other day and it was quite a different experience. The first time I read this I was 15. It helps to read this at 15 when you're full of angst. I mean, I still love and enjoy it for the ridiculous amount of unnecessary brutal murders on nny's part ("STOP TRYING TO BRING BACK BELLBOTTOMS!" *MURDERS*), but all the quasi-deep things that nny says don't seem very deep anymore. I was like, that SOUNDS nice, Vasquez, but I think you're trying too hard to sound fancy. ALSO, this graphic novel was published before EMO was all the rage, and I read it before emo was all the rage, so I think that's part of what made it lamer. Back in 1997, "people" like nny were just morose, but by today's standards, nny is just a little emoface. (Except when he's killing).

Gawd I'm a sucker for a battered leather coat wearing War Mage.... Love the Pics on Karen Chance's website - yummy!! you've gotta love Pritkin, he's thawing-out before our very eyes.... Can't think that Cassie is totally oblivious to him or the growing connection between them.... Love it, love it, love it!! I've been saving Hunt the Moon for my hols next week.... but its oooh soooo tempting to open it before (!)

This is a great book for a book club. The discussion drifts from immigration/ assimilation issues to martial relationships/ to food and great writing. This is a collection of short stories and each character became real to me just after 20 pages. I love how there was a story within the story. Most of the stories are slightly depressing but I thoroughly enjoyed them all.

I wasn't crazy about this book--there wasn't one character that I liked. But, I did think the overarching themes of trying to communicate in dysfunctional families was worthwhile and ultimately, made the book worth finishing.

It was a charming quick read. The characters were very delightful except for Cody’s dad, Dave! I most definitely wanted to strangle him for the most part, no wonder Kipling was rather seriously pissed off of him. Can’t entirely blame him coz Dave had no single good thing to say about Cody, to think she’s his only daughter! The storyline was clichéd but entertaining nevertheless.
