Although I enjoyed this book, I think that Jodi Picoult seems to have maybe reached her peak as an author. It's strange because her earlier books--My Sister's Keeper, 19 Minutes, Handle With Care--are all amazing novels, but her latest two seem to be lacking the same spark that the others had. I did enjoy the insights into Zoe's career as a musical therapist, and I liked the character of Vanessa. Unfortunately, the rest of the time I felt like slapping some of the minor characters, and it made me upset to think that there are people in the world who are that ignorant and cruel. Finally, the CD accompanying the book was an incredibly creative idea and I loved the song lyrics, but I didn't like the music as much as I was anticipating.
