I picked this up in search of a good slice of life read and I wasn't disappointed. Hopefully you won't think less of me when I say that I liked Bimini the best. The descriptions of landscape and alcohol are equally lush. I especially like the way Thomas Hudson gets poetic about his favourite drinks. Each section of the book has a very distinct feel. It's almost like reading three separate books about three different parts in Thomas Hudson's life. The novel wasn't exactly what I expected. It ended up being much more tragic than I would have thought. I wasn't too sure about how brilliant and worldly Thomas Hudson's kids seemed to be. If not for the occasional disquieting smack-talking women moment I might have added another star.

This is very unique book the paranormal romance genre and it has great humor added in. It caught my attention from the first page and held it until the end.

This trilogy has 2 books worth of set up, I'm on the last one and I all the loose ends better tie together. I can usually skim some protions of a book and not miss anything, but the way Hobb writes you have to read every word. I'm not sure if I think that is good or bad.
