I found this book recently, someone having discarded it on the street. Since beginning to read it I've had trouble putting it down. The quality of mystery pervades the book, with no gratuitous violence. There is an immediacy that is captivating, with many excerpts from actual transcripts. The characterizations are rendered with depth, complexity, insightful behavioral nuance.
Woof-- no pun intended. So good.
Not what I expected... i borrowed this book from a coworker when I told her I liked scifi novels... I was apprehensive at first because it was a bit too romantic, but it really gave me a lot to think about (and I did get a good feeling reading about my hometown and neighborhood in chicago).
Good book about the India/Pakistan Partition, which specifically deals with the abduction of Hindu/Muslim Women and their experiences after being rescued and rehabilitated.
It was a really interesting quick read. I love Steven Ambrose books and this was just a fun read on male friendships. I really have had fun talking it over with my husband and delving into the mind of men. I loved pondering my own friendships and the ones I hope to have someday.
