Very different from other Cormac novels, and pared-down in terms of plot and characters, it's nonetheless a compelling story that will haunt you for a long time afterwards. Nowhere near as gory as Blood Meridian (though it does have its moments)--yet it's still scary, as the apocalyptic vision Cormac unfolds for us is hardly a far-flung fantasy. With the Bush wars and peak oil upon us, we could, indeed, be left with an earth as scorched as this.
Interesting book, I definately learned some things and gained some new perspectives... Being a few years old, it made a great deal of the stats in this book outdated, especially stats having to do with recylcables as the market for many of them are constantly changing. I wish there were more books such as this one. It's hard to find a good book about trash :)
A wonderful historical romance, full of brash characters and set against the Great Plague.
I bought this hardcover at the King Museum in Atlanta. Its a big heavy book. I aint through with it yet!
This book first caught my eye because of the cover. OK, I admit that covers do influence me. But I ended up loving this book. The characters are all a little quirky and it takes some time to figure them out but I ended up really caring for all of them. This is a book that I am definitely going to read again. I know I will get so much more out of it the second time through. Some books are just like that, aren't they?
just a regular printmaking instruction book EXCEPT that it has a great introduction with wonderful tips on how to get over that overwhelmed "blank canvas" feeling
