A totally gripping read that draws you right in to it's world and then spits you out wrung out and mind drenched with the secrets and shocks! Allison has just been released after 5 years in prison to find her family have all but wiped her from their lives and memories. Trying to move on with her life won't be easy but everyone deserves a second chance and just as Allison is getting hers, her past comes back to confront her with shocking results. 5 years before Allison had a secret pregnancy - the night she gave birth was traumatic and let to tragic events that, as the story unfolds, we discover has affected not just Allison and her sister but two other families in the area. Told in the voices of the four main characters, Allison, Claire, Brynn and Charm, we unravel the circumstances of that night and unveil the truth that has far reaching consequences. A very complex and compelling story that is very easy to become involved in; although it is easy to guess where the story is going it is nevertheless utterly convincing and enthralling. I sympathised with all the characters and thought the story was told with empathy and understanding whilst in no way making light of the seriousness of the issues. A brilliant read, again, from Heather Gudenkauf that will no doubt stay in my mind for a few days!
