this book seems interesting. hope to find a copy of it at the library
I thought is was good, very good for a mystery. The plausible story was tied up very neatly, if not a bit to sweetly, at the end. I also really enjoy Laura Lippman's easy, rolling Faulkner-influenced style. However, I guessed what happened about 1/2 way through, hence the 4 stars...
What can I say - have read this many times since I was 11 years old.
I really enjoyed this book. Read it in 2 days. The story (or stories) of an extraordinary man's life as seen through the tall tales and jokes he imparts on his son. Edward Bloom a travelling businessman is Dying, and the stories revealed in this book are a jumble of stories and jokes he has told his son William (the narrator of the book). And through re-telling of these stories, William begins to understand what a wonderfully loved and great man his father was.
