I am terrible when it comes to phonetics. It's just not a skill I learned in school. So when authors use Pronouns with obscure spellings I struggle like a first grader learning to read. This is why this Newberry honor book got dinged one star. The plot, the political intrigue, the actions scenes and the surprising twist at the end were absolutely fantastic. Even the complexities of their Religion and various duties of the Gods helped foreshadow the plot. If only my silly little brain could keep better track of the Pronouns, I wonder if I would have seen the end coming instead of waiting for the author to spell it out for me. I should stick to the audio books for such occasions. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, and strongly encourage them to have all three books in the series on hand for uninterrupted reading pleasure.
I kept reading mostly because it was fast. I hoped for something uplifting..or interesting...or a new twist.Nope. Dont bother. Sorry
