** spoiler alert ** Oh my freaking frack, I love this book so very much--probably my favorite non-Sandman Neil Gaiman. I'm kind of picky about fantasy. I need it to begin in our world and then move into another. The London Underground being an entirely different world, existing underneath ours and visible only if we choose to see ... I find this idea fascinating. And I love how Gaiman purposely draws parallels between the homeless and the people from London Below--we do not see them because we choose not to. Richard, Door, Islington, the Blackfriars, Hunter, the Marquis ... unforgettable characters. Gaiman makes me wish so hard for things to be real, like the wine from Atlantis, the floating markets. And he totally had the Horcrux thing as a concept before JKR!
