Twiliqht is one of the best Book i read,, Not Second So Who ever Say Other Wise >>>>> enjoyed reading it..
Steinbeck was an excellent writer. His words formed beautiful sentences in context without any conversation; and they were very revealing of the people, places and times that he wrote of with conversation. Unfortunately, his writing could also be quite depressing - and for those of you who know me, well, let's just say that this is the last thing that I need. "Of Mice and Men" is not as depressing as some of his other work, (for example - "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Cannery Row") but Steinbeck does have an uncanny way of capturing the rampant ignorance and impoverishment of the times. The people that fit into this class of people in this book drifted through life hoping for a better life and dreaming for a better shake. If you fit into this class of people during this time you were an utterly hopeless lot. Nobody captured that better than John Steinbeck. Got that Tawny?
Well-depicted everyday characters of modern life that resembles the style of John Irving whom I admire. However, the storytelling lacks poignancy and is a bit of a yawn at times and it was a chore to get through reading it. Although I sympathized with the protagonist Macon, much of the book did not build up to anything and it was impossible for me to muster up enough interest to turn the page and find out what happens to the main characters since it was much like people-watching at a cafe where you see them go about their everyday lives and you don't much care about what they do once they exit your view.
I LOVE this book. It was a quick read. Completely engaging from the beginning. It has changed the way I look at my dog, family, nascar...
