The writing was fine, but I could not get into these characters. I sloughed on, but it got increasingly depressing. By the time I reached the double cancer cases I knew it was over for me, so with less than a third of the book to go I jumped ship. I simply didn't care enough to suffer that much.
I don't really know what to think about this book to be honest. I've loved every other one of Dorothy Koomson's books so I was keen to get started on The Woman He Loved Before. I did enjoy it but at the same time it was so traumatic, harrowing even. I finished the book feeling like I'd been there and witnessed everything first hand. Yes it's well written but the content was probably a bit too strong for me. It wasn't really what I was expecting when I fist picked the book up.
