Interesting story. Especially the way the three female characters tie together.
Squee! Squeee! Double squeee! Swoon and.... end scene! Seriously, at the end of this book I clasped my hands together, put them near the side of my face, got this huge, cheesy grin and SQUEED! Loudly enough that my kids laughed at me. But if you've read the end, you can't blame me. And really, if ever there was a case to prove the importance of talking things out... Anywho, I liked Anna. I thought she was funny and she really took embarrassing moments in stride. I thought she came off as really realistic. I liked how tough she was. Not tough, but... ugh, I can't think of the word right now. At times, she did annoy me. Like, I can understand her anger at a certain person in the book, at the same time, I didn't. I thought her extended reaction was over the top and uncalled for. Also, I didn't think her dad was that bad. Orange tans and cheesy novels weren't enough to convince me to hate him. But, she was still a teen so... I liked all the characters in this one. Even the bad ones. Just because everyone was written so well. I felt like even the bad people had potential to be good. And I wanted everyone to succeed and just be better. But believe that there were some parts that annoyed me. Really, really annoyed me. I didn't at all agree with the mental cheating, no matter how many times Anna mentioned how beautiful he was. St. Clair was having an emotional affair! That's just wrong! Your beautiful hair won't change my mind! If I were her or St. Clair's friend, I would have pointed that out. And I was NOT buying any of the cop-out excuses on why they couldn't be together. Maybe that's my little bit of strong personality coming out, but it made me want to tell Anna to just cut him off, he is (maybe not intentionally, but still) leading you on, girl! That's just not gonna cut it! I think I was swayed, because the book is written in the first person narrative, from Anna's point of view. So, normally, if I had read that one character did X, I would respond to it. But since it's written in Anna's point of view, she kind of affected my responses. She made me like St. Clair even when I didn't want to. So, yes, I do recommend this one. I laughed out loud a few times, I frowned, I grinned, I swooned! I think it's quick read that people will enjoy. Good for teens. Really made me wish my high school was like that (nix the drama though). Just the fun part. And the Paris part. P.S. Her little brother, when we first meet him, did not behave like a seven year old! P.P.S. Please tell me that I am not the only one that thinks there will be a sequel?!
