Really... this is a book about addiction by a beat poet plauged by heroin for most of his adult life. I'm not sure he remembers writting most of this book. Mainly published because Alan Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac fought for it... Good book. Difficult to read. Dark sense of comedy. I'd try to read it at least once. This is my 3rd attempt.
A cross between shopaholic and little earthquakes. For all those girls that are having babies and their friends who want to be there for them,this is a good book to read

I purchased this book because of the topic. I can relate to it for personal reasons and I imagine there would be a lot of women who could. The writing style is half way between "amateur who can write well" and "professional pretending to be an amateur telling her personal story". I enjoyed reading it but would not say it's an amazing book. There isn't a part some point in the book which made me think 'wow'.
