This is an interesting look at the life of a transexual - a world I never thought I could relate to but actually found somewhat relate-able in this format. A good read about the struggles of anyone who doesn't fit the standard one-size-fits-all American culture.

This is the culmination of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, and the Highlander series, as well. If you haven't picked up any of these books... you don't know what you are missing!!!! Also, don't read any further, as there are some spoilers to what went on before this book was written. It took me a long time to be ready to read this book, since the last one was so dark! The 690 pages were a little daunting, too! The first time I got the book from the library, I had a lot of other library books to read, so I sent it back. This time I got it from the library's ebook section, and started reading it right away. So glad I did! There were times where some of the things Mac (Mackayla Lane) has gone through were really topugh to read, as she's gone to some very dark places in her life after her sister Alina was killed and she had gone to Dublin, Ireland to try and find the one responsible for Alina's death. She also discovered she was a Sidhe Seer, like her sister was, but where they had grown up in mid-western America- there were no Fae for them to see past their Glamours. Her life changed dramatically after she stumbled into Barrons Books and Baubles, and met the owner Jericho Barrons. It seemed she was able to detect Seelie and Unseelie artifacts, and once they acquired a few, the real hunt began for a book called the Sinsar Dubh. This is a book that became sentient after holding a millenia of the Unseelie King's spells and experiments... but anyone it possessed wreaked havoc killing everyone around them and the possessed person commited suicide as well. She tried reaching out to other Sidhe Seers, but only 13 year old Dani believed in her when Mac tried to get them from just hiding in their Haven and come out to help them after the Walls holding back Faerie (specifically the Unseelie prison) came down and millions of people ended up losing their lives to Shadows and more unsavory Fae. She was rescued by Barrons when she turned Pri-ya after being raped by the Unseelie Princes and he helped bring her back from the brink. This book finally answers all the questions that have been driving Mac! She discovers more about her sister's life and death, and who was really behind her sister's death. She also learns more about Barrons and his men, and the dreams that have been haunting her since her childhood also reveal some very interesting things about Mac, as well! A certain Fae Prince (V'Lane) has been wooing her throughout the series, and there's some surprises there as well! It didn't take me as long as I thought it would to get through the 690 pages, as it was a very difficult story to set down! An amazing conclusion to a gripping series! I was very happy to read that the author still has more stories in mind set in the Fever universe she created!
