oooh oooh lovely! every time i buy a chabon book i expect to be disappointed, my expectations are always so high...& every time, i am delighted by his narrative acumen. regardless of the esotericism of his topic, you are IN it from page one, loving every second in spite of the inevitable, implicit double bind of his (& the reader's, don't forget) identity & temporal politics... no one could dream up a more bizarrely sensible universe. he is, truly, an excellent writer. we ravenous readers are lucky to have him regularly churning out unusual & intricate postmodern fiction that both acknowledges & completely disregards its positioning _every_ _single_ _time_.
