This book was written by my former Head of School. While the portrayal of boarding school life is romanticized and a bit idealistic and the weight/gravity is nothing of _A Separate Peace_, the characters face real challenges with equally real life lessons to be learned.
SUMMARY: I'm terrible with names. Janek Mitter wakes up to find his wife dead in the bath tub and no memory of what happens. Inspector Van Veeteren is not sure Mitter committed the crime, but since there is on evidence of any other actor Mitter is convicted and sentenced. Of course, Mitter is innocent and Van Veeteren must lead the team that tries to find the real killer. COMMENT: Rating 3.75 rounded up to 4.0.
