Excellent story about life and times of May Dodd (fictional character)and based on an proposal by indians that they should be given 1,000 white women to bring into their tribe as wives.
This guy is such a pretentious asshole it's hilarious. But he's somehow likeable, and the whole story of his ne'er do well years is engrossing.
This is one of the most beautiful, interesting stories I've ever read. If you enjoy strong women characters you'll love this book!
